If your laptop becomes very slow or starts shutting down or freezing, you could be about to suffer from a hard drive failure. If this is the case, make a full backup of all your data and, if possible, take an image snap shot of your hard drive with a programme like Acronis True Image. This programme makes an exact copy of your hard drive allowing you to buy another one and import the old image onto it. This saves a huge amount of time and has your computer back to how it was but with a new hard drive.
Hard Drive Speeds
The speed of your hard drive can have an effect on the performance of your laptop. Standard laptop hard drives spin at around 5,400 rpm but for a few pounds more, you can get hard drives that spin at 7,200 rpm.
If you have a faster spinning hard drive, your computer will be able to access data faster and this decreases the time it takes to boot up the laptop and to find data when you need it.
